What's up with this. I've submitted my site three times to google's DMOz - 1 time per month. Still not listed. I've exercised all my avenues, my site is good quality, no spammming etc, I even have decent listings within google's index.

What %&%$ gives!

Could it be a competitor running the section I'm trying to get added too - if so, how do I get them knocked the hell outta there?

Hey Askjoe,

Three and a half months for some categories is not a long time. Some cats have big queues, some cats have slow editors.

And from what I understand, by resubmitting you're actually shooting yourself in the foot -- your submission is changed to the last date submitted, effectively the bottom of the queue.

Best bet for somewhat solid answers is DMOZ's resource-zone.

Think this might pop over to /Directories soon, anyway....

You only need to apply once to DMOZ/OpenDirectory at www.dmoz.org

Check the status of your submission at the resource zone. See what they have to say below are a few suggestions on why you are having problems.

You category could be very busy and they havent had time to get to you yet. DMOZ editors work for free, when they can. You could have a category with an inactive editor.

I would check that your site is submitted to the right category as if it is not, it can easily be left out or lost in unreviewed as it is moved from cat to cat by an editor.

Also I assume you met the ToS of DMOZ and your site is not a MLM or a just affiliate site and that you have a reasonable amount of unique and category specific content.

Yep. 3 1/2 months isn't that long by ODP standards. If you ask at Resource Zone they can tell you what the status is.

I think that you will find DMOZ belongs to AOL not Google!
