To submit... or not?

The USA based manufacturing company of an upmarket food blender has a .com site which appears in one of the Business cats.... but there are no links to regional agents.

These regional agents carry stock, spare parts, process orders and operate as a store front. Can I submit a site for a regional agent into a regional cat?... or will the regional site be classed as an affiliate and declined entry into ODP?

Comments from editors appreciated.

It depends. If the local agent is relevant for the regional area and has some connection for that area, I don't see why it should not be listed. Espcially if you have it in a local language, then you should have no problem getting it listed imo.

It also depends on what kind of regional content you're talking about. If you're just talking about linking to an agent info page on the main web site, no, those likely wouldn't be listed. If you're talking about separate sites, it's possible that they might be listed but I'd have to know the details in order to give you a more specific response.

It is a stand-alone business situated in, and with an operational area within the region. It will be a fully stand-alone site, not a series of links to the manufacturer's site. It will be in the local language and will be the only site representatiing that product for the regional cat.

Orders are received and processed by the site owner, not just directed to the manufacturer as in the case of an affiliate. It operates in just the same way as a car dealership except the product is different.

To me, all of the above should justify a listing in the local cat, but..... the site must of necessity contain information already appearing on the manufacturer's site.

Given the ODP's sensitivity to duplicated content and affiliate spamming, I'd like to get some guidance on this before wasting everyone's time with a submission that will be excluded.

If you don't want to give specifics here, you might want to either post your specifics at resource-zone or sticky mail me and I'll give you a more detailed answer. Can guarantee anything but an honest answer.

[whoops, just realized I made a little typo there -- that should have read "Can't guarantee anything but an honest answer". My bad :o ]

Hmm, an unfortunate typo, I assume that can should be can't instead.

I hit reply on that window, then got distracted reading and replying to several other things, in other windows, for over half an hour.
