DMOZ PR Weight Dropped?

Kind of interesting so I thought I'd see feedback.

I added a site to the ODP, in a category with PR7. The site was just up and added for the last crawl (new this update), so this is the first time to test it.

It picked up the DMOZ backlink...but the site is only a PR4?

Is it possible that DMOZ is dropping it's PR weight somehow? (too many backlinks on my other sites to determine)

Could be that the PR of that page in DMOZ is distributed to too many pages to have given you better than a PR of 4?

Pages with many links will not distribute PageRank the same way as pages with few links...

I think Jeremy is right on spot. At least you can lok forward to it reaching the G directory from a pr 8 page:).

A quick check of an ODP cat that is PR7 and sites listed there where their only backlink is the ODP indicate the same amount of PR is being transferred from the ODP as before.

Thanks for the responses guys.

As to the PR given out, it's in a category with only about 8 sites. I thought that was a rather low number to diminish the rank to that level, but I could be wrong.

I lost PR on pretty much all of my sites this last update. Some of them have been dramatic so I'm just trying to figure out where the biggest change in PR was.

HI All,

A couple of things here. I'm a newbie, what do you mean when you talk about back links?
Also I submitted to ODP in the wrong cat. and listing isn't giving us any visibility, should I request a change? I know I have asked this before but I feel being mis-categorized is actually hurting us.
AS always thank you for your advise~

That is a very low number and it should give you a higher pr I would think. How many links are on the page including those to other categories rather than just the sites listed?

Some strangeness going on. My toolbar has Top/Society/Issues showing a PR4! It's normally PR8, and its fifty subcats are all PR7 and linking to it so PR4 is obviously not right. Just a bit more weirdness.

<edit> I see many/all the /Society second level categories are showing PR4 or 3, while the next level down are PR7. (/Society is PR8.)
