In the DMOZ database but not listed?

I was listed in the DMOZ directory with my site showing up under its category. I changed the description for my listing and now my site does not show up as being listed under its category, but when you search for my site it still shows up as being in the database with the old description. I emailed the editor for that category asking if I did not fill out the update form correctly or if I need to resubmit my site, but I have not received an answer back.

My question is am I still in DMOZ? Should I be concerned that I do not show up as a listing? Was my listing taken down while they make the description change?

Obviously there is still a problem with DMOZ dumps.

An update occurred today, but reverts results back to that observed in September 2002.

Be patience.

The ODP search is only updated when a new RDF dump is produced, so it is often out of step with what is actually listed in the live directory.

If your site is no longer listed in that category then there are many things that could have happened to it. These could include (but are not limited to):
- moved to unreviewed, as your site or server wasn't responding when your site was checked (editors do re-review listings).
- moved to unreviewed while the category is being reorganised.
- moved to unreviewed of another category, as it is a better fit there, but the editor doesn't have editing rights in the new category.
- moved to, and published in, some other better category (as the editor can edit in both the old and new areas).
- deleted out of the directory as it no longer fits the guidelines.

Until the search is updated it is not easy for the public to find where in the directory a site may have gone to. It is an easier job for editors to look, so it is best to get a direct answer by asking on Resource Zone, a public forum run by ODP editors.

As you maybe know, the last RDF dump was a special one (no category IDs), which was not stored at the same place as the standard-RDF. Now when staff switched back to the standard one, the system needed some time to synch all search-servers. For some time, the old RDF from september was visible again. Should be replaced by the new one now.

I am also facing some problems with DMOZ.

First of all, my site appeared in DMOZ category with half of the description that too fronm the middle. Then, for 20-25 days, it didn't show up in results if searched for. I asked for a change in description requesting the editor through the Update form. Now, it is appearing in the results ( since Jan, 2003), but the description has not been changed as suggested.

Also, it has not appeared in Google directory or elsewhere till date.

Any suggestions?

Read the various forum threads about rdf dump and the Google directory; ask about your site at resource-zone.com
