I have just become a member of Zeal and would like a couple of questions answering:

1) I submit a site to Zeal, it's accepted and becomes available in Looksmart. However if looksmart feeds altavista, msn and the like why do some sites show here but others do not?

2) Id I am deep linking a commercial site, however an informative commercial area that does not sell, so abides with the looksmart guidelines, how many pages of the site can I submit?

3) At what point if any can I submit a commercial site?

This might all sound dum, I am new to everything so forgive my ignorance.

2) The zeal directory goes by "pages" not "sites". I have over 200 pages from my site in there. Pretty much, if the page is non-commercial (or mostly non-commercial) in nature, you can submit it and it'll probably get in.

1) I don't think Altavista gets the results from Zeal - I've never seen it. I haven't seen some listed and some not in MSN - though search results from MSN don't always show entire categories - the keywords need to appear in the title and/or description that you've got in Zeal/LS. If the category can be gleaned from the search term, then a link to the category and/or most/all of the sites in that category will show due to the naming conventions at Zeal.

3) Commercial sites - er "pages" - aren't going to get into Zeal unless you go the "pay for Looksmart" route. Articles, reviews, informational pages with links to your commercial pages (that aren't "in your face") can get in and there doesn't seem to be a limit.
