A few months back someone had a link to a message board for DMOZ, this was a message board which was actualy on DMOZ's website, you could post a message to check the status of your submission. Does anyone know this link?

Heres my situation:

I submited our site to DMOZ about 6 months ago and we still have not been submitted or contacted. I contacted DMOZ through there message board and they said there were over 100 sites in front of us in our category and that it would take a while. There is no editor in our category so I emailed the editor above our category and received no response. Any sugestions? Should I resubmit the site?

That site isn't actually a part of dmoz.

The best place to get info about things re: dmoz is right here.

Fire away, plenty of folks read here that edit at DMOZ. :)

I just received a message from an editor at DMOZ saying that there is still 100 other sites in our category waiting review but there is a lack of editors in our category, it has been over 4 months since we submitted. It does not look like anyone will be reviewing them anytime soon. I have applied to be an editor several times but have been rejected, any advice on how to get submitted any quicker.

Thanks Patrick

Try again to become an editor...use a different email *cough*, suggest different sites in your application, etc.

Perhaps you could also make up an identity for yourself, as a 'john doe' or something, and get accepted quicker / easier as an editor that way?

Then once you're 'in' you can just approve all of your sites. :)

Who knows, perhaps that's the way others do it?

Here's some advice... maybe not what you want to hear, though. You've already spent too much time on it. More time than the listing is worth. You've done what you can. Spend the time you would be spending thinking about a DMOZ listing, writing to editors, and posting about it on other SEO activities. For example, seek out somewhat-related sites for link exchanges. Find a like-minded web master of a site that is complimentary to yours is much less frustrating and potentially more rewarding than fussing over a DMOZ listing.

Have you tried contacting an editor that is further up the directory tree, from the cat that you are wishing to get the site listing in?

The further up you go in quite categories, with less editors at the lower cats, the busy they are, and hence, they should sort you out, in one way or another.

Between spammers deluging the DMOZ, and not enough volunteers, parts of it have ton of unrevieweds backlogged. Obviously you are submitting to such a cat in the DMOZ. There really isn't much you can do, sorry. :(

Why wont they accept me as an editor if this is the case?

Why wont they accept me as an editor if this is the case?

If there are a hundred unreviewed sites in your category (and that is the one you applied to be an editor in) then it is probably too big for a beginner and that would be a reason why you would not be accepted (as well as any other additional reasons that there might have been).

They generally look for folks (or applications) that are volunteering to be editors, which would mean objectively reviewing all 100 unreviewed sites fairly and managaing a category (or multiple categories) without giving preference to any one (or more sites) in particular. Keep that in mind when applying.
