Hi

I have been trying to get an update to a URL for a Rock & Blues Band for 8 months with Open Directory.

I have submitted the information on a number of occasions and sent e-mails to the respective editors to no avail.

The name of the band has changed as has their material and the URL is now their new domain name.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Regards

Ray

wish I could help, but I'm having the same sort of problem.

I moved a site too.. after two requests the URL was updated.... except that it was put in wrongly - for some reason it's something like www.dmoz.org/cat/subcat/www.mysite.com. Of course it returns a 404 when clicked and i'm not getting any traffic or PR cred for the listing.

I've requested a correction, but it seems to be a long slow process to get the ed's attention.

Thanks deejay

Interesting thing about the category I`m referring to is that it has 2 editors!

And neither of them have either completed the required changes or replied to my e-mails.

My experience with DMOZ editors and Open Directory staff in general has been the same.

Being a senior salesman since 1970 that world-wide favourite old saying springs to mind.

You get what you pay for.

You don't really need a degree to work it out.

I just keep telling it: If your update request doesn't seem to have been processed after a month or so, you may ask in the Open Directory Public Forum. At least you'll know what's the problem then.

>>The host you are trying to send the input from is not a valid host. <<

Means your browser's not sending the referrer. That particular forum software will not accept a post unless the referrer is the correct domain.

You might be able to post at the ODP forum if you try using another browser. On the other hand, you may have a firewall that is preventing it. Since the main concern here is an update request, it may be easier if you just send me the details by StickyMail, and I'll look into it for you.

Few people know about the excellent DMOZ forum where you can post issues to editors and meta-editors - *very occasionally* they will even help you out personally if you come across someone sympathetic.
