I read the following post from a DMOZ editor:
"The Dmoz rules are clear...."don't duplicate the category or title in the description".... Gulp.

I submitted my site about 9 wks ago and have been awaiting Dmoz listing. No sign so far. After checking, however, I realized I'd used the word "consumer" in my description applying to a "consumer information" catagory. Is this a fatal flaw (with most editors) and if so is there any way to remedy the mistake? Any light you can shed will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, Minor problem - the editor will just re write the description without those words. Of course we prefer not having to edit the descriptions, but most times they don't fit within the guidelines, so have to be redone anyway. Just don't worry about it. It's better than some that just have a 500 word keyword list as a description :)(yes it does happen, thankfully not as often anymore).

Actually, that's more a rule of thumb than anything else, although there are editors who adhere to it rigidly.

Imagine a site called "Fuzzy Blue Widgets." The entire site sells fuzzy blue widgets. That's all they sell. Never red ones, never smooth ones, only fuzzy blue ones.

To exclude the words "fuzzy," "blue," and "widgets" from the description would be awkward indeed, if it is even possible.
