Can any explain to me what the open directory is and how to get in. I have submitted my URL, but wandering if there is a "real" possiblity of getting listed.

To find out what the Open Directory Project is, just read [dmoz.org ] which is just one click away from the ODP main page [dmoz.org].

To find out how to get in - well, it seems you have already done the first step by submitting your URL. I hope you've read the instructions carefully and chosen the category carefully - this really makes the work easier (and faster) for the editors.

There is a real possibility to get listed if your site offers "original, unique and valuable informational content that contributes something unique to the category's subject" (from the Open Directory Editorial Guidelines [dmoz.org]). Please be patient as it may take some weeks until your site is reviewed. Remember the editors are volunteers.
