How long does it take?

I have a site that was listed in ODP and then one day it was gone. An ODP editor told me in this forum that it was just moved to another cat, but was still in the unreviewed. My site has probably been in unreviewed for three months now. The cat is Science: Environment: Air Quality: Indoor Air Quality. I realize there is no editor for this cat, but it seems like someone should have gone through the unreviewed by now. Has anyone else had this same problem?

This is a very common problem. It can take forever. Site tight and good luck. Hopefully someone will get to it soon.

Three months is no worse than average, and I've heard of waits up to 8-10 months depending on how busy the category is and the availability of editors.

The ODP Editor community has a public message board [resource-zone.com] where you can ask about the status of pending submissions, as well as learn more in general about the ODP via the discussion threads.

I just checked again, and my site finally got listed. Thanks whoever is responsible.

We had a client that was incorrectly listed in a shopping category. It's a product site but just provides info. They put a new product on the domain in May of last year. We submitted an update request in May of 2001, didn't see any change, emailed an editor who was listed at the top level of the tree where the site should be listed (not shopping) and got a response but no change to the listing (didn't have editng access or something like that). That's 15 months waiting for an update to a listing that is incorrectly in shopping and describes a site that has been replaced with something different.

That's an exception, but 15 months none the less. Somebody else does SEO for them now..oh well.
