I have submitted a few sites to about.com and have heard no response for a few weeks. Should I email the editor or should I wait?

How do you get into the go directory without being a Go Guide?

Thanks.

cyberbear, whatever editor you emailed to submit the sites you can email again. Careful, though, about.com is totally up to the editor's discretion and you really don't want to bug them much. Just make sure you have a great site that fits the category. You may want to prompt them with a reciprocal link from the site. The editors are paid based on a percent of ad revenue so any way you can help them get traffic they will appreciate. You need to be a Go editor or have a Go editor submit your site to the directory. You can join for free and then submit the site for review. You need two approvals before the site will be accepted.

Thanks JamesR

Interesting info regarding the About.com editors. I will try the reciprocal link route but will give them another week or so before I approach them again.

Any Go guides here who can help me with my site submissions? Both sites are ecommerce sites selling hosting, merchant accounts, shopping carts, web dsign, etc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

another route to consider is the "on the web" search, About allso offers, this uses Sprinks which takes data from ink/direct hit, although I have noticed is does seen to perfer ink (someone out there still likes them).

I did a search with About and all of my sites recentley submitted through PT are on the first search page with About and of course Sprinks.

Hi Tigger

Are you saying you believe your pages submitted through position tech are getting a boost in rankings?

I went to the Sprinks page and they include DH and Ink like you say. One problem is that all my sites have never gotten into Direct Hit and I am at a loss as to why! Any suggestions on how to get them to move? Should I email them?

I've found direct hit to be a hard nut to crack, so sorry no help there, I think the sprinks site puts ink results first, so by paying through PT, so long as you get your algo correct will get you a ranking in about.com

check out the ink forum for some help, my own exprence has been very good with PT but others have had some problems, so befor you grab your credit card read around a bit.
