ouch. Understandable move, should help to get the word out, but doesn't look good IMO.
Now, when your web page contains a link to gigablast.com it will receive a Gigaboost in the search results.

# Whenever your web page ties in rank with another web page, your web page will be given the higher rank.

# Ties happen a surprising number of times and the Gigaboost advantage can really help.

Hmm...ya, that isn't sounding good - nice idea, I guess to get the results out - but aside from a sporadic (random?) few clicks some time, back, Gigablast is 0 for me.

Though, for a one person show, I guess it's no small feat to be beating WiseNut for referrals. :) (they started with what, 17 million in venture capital?)

And that link there for the 'add url' seems a bit misplaced...says that feature is still disabled. :(

Come to think of it, the spider hasn't been by my sites in a while, either...

And, if Google (or FAST, INK, etc) sees this, they might take a 'pop shot' at sites trying to help a (potential) competitor, eg, lower the rankings of any site with a link...at least, they could do it if they got scared.

Gigablast's addURL worked until a few months ago. Shortly thereafter, GB's results started showing up on various meta-search pages.

Gigabot re-spidered one of my sites yesterday.

You never know about the small engines - four years ago, AV was king, and everyone laughed when I said "Try Google"...

one feature gigablast/gigaboost has that I like and
wish Google had is a "last modified" date as well as spidered date

you think Google will pickup on such an idea?

Now they just need a custom search for your site service like Google has, although I noticed that the "site:" filter works exactly the same as Google's. In fact *alot* of the features of Google work exactly the same on Gigablast eh?

I wonder how long until "giga-words" :) -aV-

I just add my url 20 minutes ago and now my site was index and cached in gigablast.

wow that was fast! :)

Gigablast already have a kind of adwords in Sweden they have a swedish version of gigablast here.
[gigablast.nu...]
In the right corner of the page it says sponsrad länk and there you can add some adwords campain, i have not digging so much for it because i have never seen a referer from the swedish engine yet.
But maybe some day it will come :-)

I haven't used Gigablast since it first launched. I added my URL's to get crawled again and in litterally 10 seconds the site was updated in the cache. Unbelievable. This might be a good tool to test out how small changes in pages can affect the SERP's. But, of course, it will only be for the gigablast algo.

I just added my site to Gigablast less than 2 minutes ago, and checked and it's been spidered and cached! Holy cow, I wish Google was that fast ;-)

The only problem is that, so far, nobody is using Gigablast and therefore it makes no difference how fast they can index your site. But, you know, once upon a time Google was also insignificant... ;)

Add url is down again :(

Add url fluctuates over there it seems...with real time spidering, I'd expect just with the WebmasterWorld audience, we could over whelm them. :)

As a trick too -> Gigablast could just disable it temporarily, to make people *think* it's offline...and to lighten the load of submissions.

Anybody tested their free site search? I can't get it to return any results from a site, where I have installed it on one single page for testing. Guess I must be doing something wrong. The results _are_ there. When I search on the relevant keywords in Gigablast's own search field, I get SERPs with pages that I submitted minutes ago.

to troels_nybo_nielsen:

sitesearch works like a charm. added the site a week ago, it was indexed after 2 minutes, sitesearch running today: no probs.

here is an url for this:

[gigablast.com...]

<added>
just test with a new site - it does not work. i think it'll take some time until this is done. i'll check it in some minutes again

still no changes. i think this will take quite longe then the first index. there seem to be only the first page index at all in the complete gigablast index. hmm. not that fast.... :(

If Google (or FAST, INK, etc) sees this, they might take a 'pop shot' at sites trying to help a (potential) competitor, eg, lower the rankings of any site with a link...at least, they could do it if they got scared.

Jeremy, I was wondering about that also. Doesn't anyone else think this is a possibility?

Put up a link to several SE's in addition to the Gigablast URL. Maybe, choose a major SE to go along with Gigablast. Spread the joy around a little.

IMO the exposure to the public to the fact that they have many different search engines available works in our long term favor. :)

I think Gigablast has a great idea.

I hope Matt can keep the train going. It would be awesome to see Gigablast overtake at least AV or Wisenut in the referrals department.

The Gigaboost is a great idea.

Well, I am amazed

Just submitted an entire site to GB (URL by URL), and all of them are already in the results - I would say in less than a minute.

BTW, I added their link to the bottom of all pages.
