I would never have thought it could happen...looking over my logs for not one, or two sites, but three web sites and they all have Gigablast derived listings as their #2 or #5 source of traffic (depending on if you lump all of Google stuff into one slot, or count Yahoo, AOL, and Earthlink seperately).

Now that they are a 'player' or rather, an engine with a semi stable, large database with no pay per click stuff layered in, how are they treating you? Do you get traffic (eg, more than 5 per day) or is it non existant so far?

Honestly, they've become my #2 search engine...it's amazing to me that the algo seems pretty good (though of course, filled with the usual spam that seems to be in every database when an engine gets off the ground...)

Not seeing any traffic but just searched for my sites.

The oldest site has a cached version dated July (pre major site redesign).
The next one has a cached version dated August (pre-major site redesign).
My newest site has a cached version dated mid october (14 days after launch).

Not exactly "minty fresh"! ;)

I can't really say that they are sending a whole lot of traffic yet but there is hope.

As of right now I see them as a refer maybe twice a week and this has been pretty constant over the last couple of months.

They haven't shown up in my logs yet. An Alexa check shows Giga ranked around 10,000, which is not massive, but not slouchy either.

Looks like Giga quit spidering about 2 weeks ago. Hope he gets it running soon.

PS: I love Google, but I'd love to see an alternative to Google as well. I'll bet Gigablast would gain a lot of support from the web development community if it progresses.

I love this one. It's fast and looks good. One thing I'm noticing-they seem to put too much emphasis on URL name.

zero referals for me in november so far, despite top 3 spots on several keywords that give me good traffic from elsewhere

I found they're SERPs disgusting.

are they using ODP as a feed?

It's easy to manipulate, so I'm pretty sure that's what all the fuss is about.

Let's face it, if I crank up the KW density to about 15% 20% I can get #1 listings for just about any keyword combo I want, for pages with no inbound links.

I haven't seen anything to get excited about yet, and don't count on any trafic for the long term, they seem to dump the index on a regular basis and start over. The add url function and the quick spidering is nice, but that function seems to be off more than on. What's more, it won't stay on, because the SEOs will abuse it. Don't like your rank? opt the page again and submit it. :) Hmm, how long do you think it will take to figure out how to slam that algo?

DH,

if they are dumping the index, algo tweaking and reloading it, thats a positive sign of an on an up and coming engine, most have half baked updates, once in a blue moon.

Ive certainly come across them in posts, but never looked, i think i shall keep an eye in this engine, see what is happening.

That's just it. They don't seem to be doing much with the algo. I'd love to see something innovative, right now I see instant spidering and an engine that is easy to influence and I'm certainly not seeing any traffic.

It's still in the development stages though and I'm sure they have plans to tweak the algo. I've seen quite a bit of fluff regarding the engine, and good press seems to be more readily heard than bad press. Just thought I'd play devil's advocate.

Digighost -

It appears that the algo is still being tweaked. The SERP's are the result of raw spidering (kinda fun if you ask me). It seems forgivable since this site was programmed and maintained by a single person.

I'm just interested to see how the algo will shake up current results.

"Not exactly "minty fresh"!"

I am showing cache dates for my site of Nov 08 2002 :-)

No sign of any traffic though :-(

3 clicks in the last week despite top 3 position for many keywords. Woohoo.

I'd really like to see what Gigablast can do. So far we have cached listings from months ago showing up in the SERPS.
