Came across [guidebeam.com...] yesterday. Seems to be using some sort of aggregated AV db.
Certainly it lists a defunct site of mine at #1 - as does AV - but it also lists my new replacement site (different domain, submitted to AV early Nov '01) at #2 - which AV doesn't.
I'm no expert in all this and I'm wondering if other, better-informed members have any comments.
I have no relationship whatsoever with guidebeam. Just an interested WebmasterWorld newbie member!

>>The user query is passed to one or more search engines, which evaluate it. The results are merged and an abstraction layer is automatically created on top of the query result.<<

Looks like they're post-processing data from search engines, where they're allowed to, anyway.

Simple search results from AV, advanced from ATW.

ALL results are in the title. Advanced search only returns exact phrase in title, Simple (AV) words are in title but not necessarily in any order.

Note differences in this search (advanced and simple) 'california mp3'

You can see the exact query sent also by viewing source in the serp:
<!-- query: [altavista.com...] -->

&srin=title I guess is something I didn't know you could do on AV.

I did get a forbidden error when I tried to click an av link with guidebeam as a referer.

Yeah, I found that too, maybe a reasearch project. I sent the owner an email, we'll see what he says.
