Sprinks and Inktomi, now owned by major search competitors, plan to drop LookSmart's search listings as the company prepares to lay off half its staff.

Neither Sprinks nor Inktomi Corp. is planning to renew their agreements with LookSmart to use its search listings, said Dakota Sullivan, LookSmart's vice president of marketing. The two customers together accounted for 5.7 percent of LookSmart's listings revenues in the third quarter of this year, and the loss will come at about the same time as MSN's Jan. 15 cutoff of LookSmart's listings. MSN has accounted for two-thirds of LookSmart's listings revenues.

Bad news across the board for LS. Somewhere yesterday I saw that it's planning to cut 50% of staff in the wake of losing MSN.

Looks like with all the restructuring going on it's the odd directory out, at least for now.

But they are gaining distribution with mygeek and other "contextual" advertisers.

And let's not forget that LS are also pulling out of the UK completely.

They still have a market value of $146 million, so there is some hope left. They desperately need to find new partners to show their listings.

Unless they get bought out by a reasonably big name, who is going to sign up with a dying company?
