Hi everybody,

I have never crosslinkied any of my sites as I am a bit unsure of this topic and I always er on the side of caution. I have 4 sites (2 of which are new and 2 of which have pr6) and I want to get the new sites indexed by Google.

1 - What is the best way to crosslink, (i.e. in the breadcrumbs at the bottom)? What are your personal experiences of this or how do you do it?

2 - How much crosslinking should be done to, (i.e. one link on each page to the other sites)?

Thanks in advance for you help with this matter.

Regards

I run 5 sites and they are crosslinked anywhere the parent company name appears. For example, on one site, the company name is very visible in the logo so I link the logo back to the company's commercial site. On others, the name is just a mention at the bottom of the page and I'll link that. I've not been penalized for this sort of cross-linking.

4 sites will unlikely cause you any problems.

Avoid crosslinking any pages that have identical content (if any) other than that - "related topics" crosslinks are best, and then website ownership e.g. with copright statement.

I agree with Fathom,

Crosslinking 4 sites will give no problems. Just avoid to crosslink two pages which are equal. Like Fathom said.

But if your goal is to get the other two sites indexed, start with placing only links from the two PR 6 sites to the new sites.

And if they are indexed right, start crosslinking.

If your number of websites grows you can still crosslink, but try not to crosslink the index pages, avoid reciprocal links and try placing links to pages that link back to other pages but not the to page the links comes from.

And don't forget submitting your site at:

Free Inktomi submit via MSN bCentral:
[submitit.bcentral.com...]

Free AV submit:
[addurl.altavista.com...]

AlltheWeb Add URL:
[alltheweb.com...]

GigaBlast Add URL (not always enabled):
[gigablast.com...]

And also submit at DMOZ and Yahoo.

Dave, regarding the '10 site network with one target site', did the 10 sites actually cross link with each other or did they all just link to the target site?

Well as we see with internet.com -thousands of sites crosslinked won't cause any problems.

I wouldn't duplicate any sites just so you can crosslink another though. ;)
