HI, I am very new and know very little!
I now know the importance of linking! That is why I try to do a lot of link exchange lately! I have done some banner exchange as well!
My question is that does text link exchange better than banner exchange? or they are the same? What I felt is that text links are better because spider will look at text link rather than banner link! Am I right?

Thank you

Yes..that is what I have learned. Try to use some of your key words in your text link.

I sent you a sticky mail with a website to check out that will offer great advice and how to stuff.

Good Luck

Porkchop is right, text links are good for keyword placement and also a lot of people don't want flashing bad taste banners ruining their design!

hi there welcome to WebmasterWorld

a link is a link and a banner has the same value as a text link, in terms of its backlink value

BUT other factors come into play with search engine algos - so therefore the link text used becomes a factor - so if you want to be found on a search for "apples" then try to get links to you with the text apples. obviously this won't help you for a search for "oranges"

additionally exchanging banners on a one to one basis with other sites is fine but joining a banner exchange scheme will bring you little pr value

thank you guys! All the tips are very useful for me!

I am trying to find those good link to exchange with! I will not put all people request! Most important is that they are related to my site!

Nothing wrong at all with exchanging links to relevant and useful sites for your visitors.

If you check out the 'Link Development' forum on this site you will find weeks and weeks of reading!

There is so much information on these boards for website development it is impossible to keep up with everything and all the interesting and helpful posts.

Happy reading......dont forget to contribute though!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Honda. From a Google search standpoint, text links are better. But keep in mind that a well-placed banner may generate more user clicks from the other site. So, you should decide what you are hoping for from the other site before deciding which link is best. Or, ask for both! :)
