Does Google not count links from one site to another on the same server?

For example I have a site www.widgets.com (low PR4) and it is linked to by www.widgetinformation.com (unknown PR4) which applies to the same industry but isn't a satelite site in any way. I link to www.widgets.com by linking to www.widgest.com/index.asp?source=WI to track links from this other site. Both of these sites are on the same server and the link from www.widgetinformation.com doesn't show up in a link:www.widgets.com search on Google.

Does anybody know why this may be?

google certainly does include links from other sites on the same server.

i also believe that it counts links in the format you have shown - if you are worried though, why don't you have a buried static link on the page to the site in question to catch googlebot and a more prominent one with the click throu counter.

IMHO a link to www.widgest.com/index.asp?source=WI will help the PR of www.widgest.com/index.asp?source=WI and if that page has a link to www.widgest.com (itself in a different form) then your homepage will benefit also.

This is quite strange. I just checked my [widgets.com...] page and it's a PR4 but [widgets.com...] (the same page) is PR0. I didn't know that Google differentiates between those two URLs.

I also checked about 5 other sites that I know link to www.widgets.com/index.asp?source=[sitename] and none of them show up in a "link:" check on Google even though they are all PR4 and PR5 sites.
