Backlinks to Particular Page

Does this only help the PR of the particular page

Because I am going to submit at least three or four of the pages in my site to the search engines separately, I obviously want to get the best PR for each one. What I would like to know is, whether Google and other SE's look only at links that are on the particular page they are ranking, or whether they look at backlinks site-wide? This will affect where I locate my links page, whether I have a general one for the whole site, or whether I have specific links on or linked to each specific page.

One expert has advised me that Backlinks pass on PR to the pages they are linked to but then it gets distributed around the site according to your own internal links. Can anyone offer any more specificity, such as how internal links affect the distribution of PR etc.

Thanks.

They can only judge on a page by page basis. Each page is weighed on its own merits.

So a page with no links is no good regardless of whether other pages in the site have PR 10 links?

if a page has no links pointing to it and has no outbound links from it then it would not have high PR.

AFAIK :)

PageRank that is passed to a specific page is then divided and passed to all pages which have a link on that particular page.

Google itself requires only a single page to be submitted - it will crawl all pages from there - as far as other search engine PageRank is not a factor (although link popularity since is) but most still crawl all pages of your site.

Submitting more than once... don't help.
