I thought Google hunted these down

I just had a request to exchange links with a related site. I checked the index page for the site and found the ole LinksToYou graphic and pages.
I checked the Google toolbar and it shows a PR of 6, and 5 down through the site.
I thought this was picked up a long time ago by Google and sites with that kind of a link farm system were PR0'd automaticaly?

There are a lot of those still out there and as you've found some with pretty good PR. One of our sites is still on many of the old LinkTopics and other such pages.

What I've come up with is that most of those pages were taken down and the remaining ones have added enough different links to no longer be considered under the old link farm definition.

But that doesn't hold too much water since quite a few seem to be just plain forgotten and have not changed at all.

Go figure.
