As tacky as it may seem for a business site, some of the weather sites have high PR's and want you to place a link/script on your site so you can be linked.

I have a tourist site that would fall over for this weather info & I am considering it for its PR value.

Any thoughts.

A quality Weather site (in the USA there is only one I visit regularly..TWC) is not going to suffer loss of traffic due to any PR drain as a result of linking to those sites which may have inferior PR.

Too many folks wanting/needing to know current weather conditions in their respective locale for that to be of any concern to them.

Me thinks they're primary motivation here is residual ad incomes that may be generated from gazillions of those linking to them. Such to say, you know a certain amount of those visitors will click the banners on the Weather site. So, I'd have to aggree with your assessment of 'tacky'.

I don't see it helping you because they are not linking back, so you won't be receiving any boost as a result.

As it goes, if you dig thru many of those Weather sites you'll see they mostly get their feeds (particulaly radar) from The Weather Channel or maybe NOAA.
