Is there an easier way? If so, how?

I'm averaging about 5 to 10 sites per day: Is this a good average or should I expect more?

I would say 5-10 sites a day is a pretty good average! Is that the number of links you are receiving or requesting?

I would say that’s pretty good, unfortunately some things take time :(

Depends on a few things...

How much time are you spending each day on this, and how many requests are you sending out to get those 5 to 10 links?

Doesn't sound bad at all, bossmanty. My experience with link requests is that you are lucky to get 10% or 15% of the requests you send. Clearly, the more you prequalify, the higher you can raise that percentage. Lately, I've been encountering quite a few sites that seem to be "Flying Dutchman" sites - still sailing along, but nobody at the helm. Clues are old "date last updated" values, etc. Many of these sites have good rankings, but are clearly being updated very sporadically or not at all.
