Are there some PR 7 and 8 sites that it is relatively easy to get links on?

I suppose the easiest way to get a link from a high PR page is to submit to those directories. But dmoz and yahoo are hard to get into. Anyone have some favorite directories they use?

When you are looking for a certain category to submit to, do a little PR hunting. Maybe your site will fit in to more than one category, so try submitting to the one with the highest PR. The difference can be 1 pr point, but that is worth it. You may get lucky.

PR 7 and 8 sites that it is relatively easy to get links on? – heretic

First, welcome to Webmaster World – heretic. We moved your question over here to Reciprocal Linkage Topics because even though it’s about PR it’s also about getting links. I hope we can discuss both sides of that.

You know heretic, it really depends on the industry. Some max out at PR5 and no matter where you look within that industry you can’t find any sites with better PR than that. There are niche directories with very good PR but a totally inadequate linking program, plus I often find the design of many of these sites tend to make them unusable in a linking campaign.

So I suggest first you need to research what your particular industry has to offer. When I consider a directory link I do a quick pro/con scan of the site to determine if it’s even worth a further review. During a research session I’ll pile all the possible in one list and return later to finely tune the list down to sites I’ll take the time to connect with, either through submission or email.

I have to say that some of the best directories I’ve found with both good PR and relevant content (if by that we mean the linking is specifically themed for that niche within the industry) are what some might consider ‘spam’ directories. What makes them ‘spam’ like is that they are mirrors in structure and layout and only the keywords are changed on the basic template. What works though is the purity of the links they allow. You’ve got to decide in these cases if it’s worth it to take a chance to link up. What’s the neighborhood like?

Anyway, my opinion stands that good PR 7-8 directories can be found within certain industries, consider health, education, even marketing and sales. I think that’s due to the amount of content you are able to produce in those industries comparative to say a total commerce industry where there may be just as much content available but the industry itself doesn’t expand on it.

As to the second part, “easy to get links on” again that would depend on what you consider easy. It seems to me that most people do not spend the amount of time they need to actually research and understand their industry so once these primo high PR directories are found that are actually worth submitting to, well at that point submission tends to be a breeze.
