I have officially launched my new site in the last week of August 2002. I am confident that the content of my site is Great and very informative. I thought that with this content it will not be difficult for me to get quality links.

FYI, my Pr is 0, as I have just got ONE good link.

Any suggestions to increase my chances of getting good links? I have contacted atleast 30 renowned sites for linking me, approximately 20 of them did not bother to reply back, 9 of them committed to link back when my pr is improved and one linked back.

Please advise. I am confident that the content of my site is Good.

Maybe hop over to Google and do a link:renowned site URL and see who is linking to them. Then approach the other sites also. Smaller sites might be more reseptive. Just keep doing it and it will start to build.

Hi asomani,

The egg and chicken thing...

Did you try all those smaller regional and general directories? A lot of them will actually link to you (not a redirect) and let you in for free.

Some business directories and vortals will also let you in for a reasonable fee. Before you pay, check for basic datas such as PR, traffic and if it is a real link to your site or a redirect (more and more of them do that :( ).

Working smaller directories usually lands homepages to PR 5. That is a good start. You can find them on Yahoo and ODP.

Find out where your competition is getting its links from.

Asomani, you can also try the time-proven technique of searching for links keyword. This will no doubt turn up some links pages. These often aren't the best from a PR standpoint, since they may have a large number of links and have not-so-high PR themselves, but if you are starting with none they might be the start of a quick fix.

Don't forget DMOZ and (if you have the budget) Yahoo, of course.
