Still a newby so hope my questions don't sound to dumb.

Just published my first site in march,Before I found WEBMASTERWORLD.---I THANK ALL of YOU for sharing your knowledge you are the cutting edge.---The colleges here are about 12 to 18 months behind the net.(also they teach how to get a job work 30 years and retire with a gold watch)

My question is: I have a graphic link to missing children which is not relevant to content.Will this hurt in rank,especialy a new site with few links getting started.

Best way for new site to get links???

I have a site with the missing children linkage on it and from what I can tell it hasnt hurt it in any way. Make sure your pages have good info on it so it wouln't hurt it. Sites ive seen with only links one a single page to other sites have not made it well with the engines for the most part..

For example - Your web site consists of a single page with a few links on it and no content. ;)

One thing I have a question about on index page is the fact that it seems the talk is to lead into the interior pages for most wanted response on topic,but in the instant gratification society it appears that the faster they get to their interest the better.

So it seems that link to MWR on the first page is better.

If this be true,would it be better to link to an internal page that leads to response or straight off index page to external link,which i understand can cause a link penalty in the likes of google?

You may want to link to external sites on internal pages to save your main page page rank for your site.
