Linking to Domain or URL?

Linking to domain or URL?

Hello everyone? I was wondering....when creating links, should the links from other sites be pointing back to the url or the domain name of my site? I've been told that when submitting to search engines, the URL should be submitted and not the Domain Name of the site. Is this the same for linking?

The url in a link should always be of the form:
<a href="http://www.mydomain.com/path/to/dir/">Link text</a>

Something like

<a href="mydomain.com/path/to/dir/">Link text</a>

would be wrong and I don't think it would work in a browser (I have never typed this to try it)

I don't know about submitting, I never waste my time on it (Build. Links.). I would follow the instructions on the submission page.

If I've not misunderstood, you should link to any other site (anything not within your root folder) with the full url address. <a href="http://www.theresite.com/">There Site</a>

You don't need to know about cattle to create a dating service...

Then again, if someone askes you what you do, you'd have to say" I sell sperm for a living" lol
