My question is about doing this on non-blog sites. For example, let's say I made a "How To" site called How To Play Guitar. What makes the site special is the easy 3-step method I came up with for learning to play the guitar quickly. People will like this a lot and it will be the main reason they come to the site. They will probably like it enough to "socially bookmark" it.
The rest of the site will be articles and tips about playing guitar and guitars in general that will be added on a somewhat regular basis.
Knowing what the site is, and also knowing that it is not a blog, would it be okay to put "Add this to..." type links to the usual social bookmarking sites?
I mean, I already know I COULD do it, I'm more interested in whether or not I should. It's not a blog, so would it look stupid or out of place? Or, is this normal? I've yet to see a non-blog with social bookmark links.

If you want the user to digg/delicious/slashdot the page give them button to push to do it. Tell them what you want them to do and then make it easy for them to do it. If those bookmarking tools are well known and used by your readers you can get away with the the icon style otherwise a descriptive text link would be a better choice.
