Yes it was removed. You were probably stickied as well. Look at the top of your screen.

It's sticky Mail... the internal mail system...if you look at the top of the screen you should see something that says "You have mail".....

StickyMail is the "on-board" message system... there should be bold text at the top of your window that says:

horoscopes2000: [url=.]You have mail:[/url] [ X ]

"X" is the number of stickymail messages you have. Just click on "You have mail" to access your messages.
