Does this really work to increase your own Pr?

or is G wise to this type of thing happening?

If it really is worth investing can somebody sticky me an address so i can start my research.

Don't waste your money buying links for PageRank. G is definitely wise to it. I'm sure many good folks around here would agree. Besides, that is so 2004! (haha).

Short of the links appearing in a section labled "sponsored links" or "advertiser links" etc. AND the site that you buy the link from is generally relevant and "on theme" with your own site, how does Google know if you paid off the webmaster to put up the link or if he put it up because he genuinely wanted to link to you?

Everybody does it. When they get to a good PR then they generally start swopping or interlinking sites instead
