Should I point backlinks to my home page? or my content-specific pages

a little confused about it...

Everything has great on-page optimization on my site.. everything is pretty much ready to start receiving backlinks. i'm optimizing for 5 primary keywords, and i've written 1,500 articles for each of the keywords, and each are linked from my home page...

now here's my question, i KNOW i need to focus anchor-text targeted backlinks to each of those individual articles - but what about the home page? My home page is constructed around not a lot of text, so I'm wondering if I should even bother with trying to get backlinks to my home page... I'm assuming I will, and just rotate through my 5 target keywords while requesting backlinks here n' there..

I'd go with trying to get deep links, ie not linking to the home page. I think that would help you the most if your home page has little content on it. Also if your other pages are content rich it's better for the user to land on a page with content they should be interested in.
