I'm looking into other areas of advertising my resource site on the net other than ppc and seo.
Can anyone give me a couple pointers? I've already joined forums relevent to my site which has brought good traffic to my site.
But what about blogs etc? Is this a viable alternative? Where do i start?

Banner exchange?
Web rings?
Usenet?
Email?
Tins of dog food?
Sorry, I'm getting silly now <g> Seriously though, have you considered 'viral advertising'?

Is advertising on blogs worth it? + banner ads? You're joking arent you - that's nearly as good as a top 3 position in Yahoo!

If your site has good content that could actually help people, add it to the appropriate category of Wikipedia. For example, I have a bad movie review site with what I think is good content, so I added myself to the categories that fit in Wikipedia..
I get a small amount of visitors from there but still worth having a link and other search engines will crawl the wikipedia pages fast.
