Hi there,

I guess this question is pretty simple: How long does it normally take to see a positive impact on a site's ranking with the acquisition of really good, on topic high pr links?

I say acquisition, but those are free one way links actually I did not pay for those links...

Thanks for the answers,

So... Here is my take. I'm ready for people to dsagree...

If "really good" means that they are generating hundreds of visitors a day, from your latest report frpm (say) the bbc, my guess is a short period.

If "really good" means ibound links fron PRX sites on PR X-2 inner page that nobody looks at in your industry sector, then I am guessing that the impact won't be as big as you predict.

I say it every now and then, for effect... get links for humans to travel down, not spiders, and you won't go far wrong. Get links for rankings and... increasingly... you won't get much joy.

Well, I would say that the majority of my new links are pointing to the home page of my site, and are coming from popular pages on other site. So they bring a little traffic, but not so much.

Still, the sites that are linking to my site are very good hubs and some authority sites.

So if this does not help gaining PR, it should help improve TrustRank and thus get better rankings, IMO.

Receptional, you mean google has started measure link quality based on the human traffic it generates per some time (like month)?

This seems rather logical way.

I think the point here is that if you're buying links for PR reasons, you might be disappointed in the results. If you're buying links for traffic, the impact will be immediate.

To answer your initial question, I have noticed that it generally takes 4-6 weeks for new links to show up in the link popularity results on Google. Much faster on Yahoo and MSN, however.

If they are free and from high quality sites, then I would call them "really good." IF you ever venture to paid links, take the advice previously given.

to me it doesn`t matter if the links are free or paid for. what matters is the how important is the linking page, if the page is important the impact will be greater than if the page is not important. paying for or getting the link for free can be unknown to a search engine.
