What would be considered advanced techniques?

Could not help but ask since I am new at operating a business online too.

What are advanced linking techniques?

Getting lots of links from serious, non-spammy sites about subjects related to yours... hopefully well integrated into their content, and where no quid pro quo is needed.

Getting links that most other (if not all) players in your industry don't have - to me anyway.

I agree, thinking outside the box to get new methods. Most people will not share their secret methods :)

Sugarrae,

I know you don't like to send out your techniques to find links, but is it still possible to have some examples about those links that no one thinks about?

Just a couple of vague examples!

Come on! ;)

I hunt down most of my competitor sites and look at who is liking to them first.

This isn't exactly a secret, but not many try it. Write an article about your site's theme, put a couple of links in it to your site, and offer it to another site in your niche that you like for its content. In exchange for using your article exclusively, your "payment" is that they keep the links intact. You both win - the other site gets great content for its visitors, and you get great one-way links. Try it.
