Getting links to parked page before site is ready

good idea?

I have a new site, which will be ready in a month. The domain is parked with my host.

Would it be a good idea to start pointing some links to the domain or wait until the site has real content. The parked page has links to deals from my host, etc.

Thanks!

The right answer here? No clue. What I'd do:

Put up a super simple "Site coming soon" page, with a logo if you have it, or just the name of the site if you don't. Then start getting links to it.

I have absolutely NO solid google-theory for this, it's just what I'd do.

When I decide to launch a new site I always post a "coming soon" page with some decent descriptive content and keywords to support any incoming anchor text links. I back it up with a few standard pages like, about, general overview, etc. After that I do some basic link building to get the site "in the mix".

I don’t devote too much time to this, but I consider it an incubation period that makes it possible to hit the ground running when the site is ready.

I found that this approach greatly reduces the time needed to get decent rank once the site is up and running.

(I will start this process months in advance)

As a rule, I link to new sites/domains ASAP, and usually just throw up a page of general description about what the site will be about. As soon as the site is fleshed out to know what the basic navigational pages will be, I try to throw up a general site nav, with links on every page to every other general site page, and you can link to those as well. I just link to these from other sites I control, to get them indexed, and so that they'll show toolbar PR asap. I don't actually attempt to get links from site outside my dominion before posting actual content to the sites tho.

Why do I go through this? Because there are a lot of people out there, good intentioned as they may be but nonetheless misguided, who believe they should not link to sites/pages that do not show PR.

Thanks for the info.

I'll get them parked on my server with barebones content and link them with my other sites.
