Hi everyone!

Business as usual I see. :)

Well, I have a quick question that I probably already know the answer to however I still consider myself a newbie so here goes.

I wanted to know thoughts regarding a certain site that offers 4,000+ links for a monthly fee. I don't think I can mention the name but I'm sure some of you know what I mean.

Query 1) Should I subscribe? Or is this considered link farming? Basically, is it worth my time and my dime?

Query 2) It's a directory that would take all paid member sites and link to mine -- supposedly. This question is more about, if I were to go for it would it be best to only select links in the directory that are purely and relatively ontopic only? Or, just say "yee-haw" and take the whole 4,000+ links and watch my site climb the SERPs? (potentially of course)

Query 3) Is it better to pay a small monthly fee for so many links from one source - or to pay a much higher fee for 1 single high PR ontopic site that could potentially send me traffic?

See, being new to all this (SEO) stuff presents a couple of thoughts. Should I do "whatever it takes" (within reason, no black-hat stuff) to try and achieve Page 1 results in a competetive field, or should I focus more on my linking campaign as a "long run plan with sites that will send me traffic" strategy?

I personally feel it should be both. When I research the competetion that have the results I would like, I see high PR non-relative links, low PR semi-relative links, etc and they kick cheeks with the SERPs.

Sorry for the long set of queries so if anything, to get back to the main one, what do you all think about a paid monthly service for the potential of 4,000+ links, related or not, whether they send traffic or not?

I only ask because I've found manually searching for sites to exchange links to be incredibly exhausting, even with a software like Arelis, and even tho' I will continue my manual search, just wondered if there were some highly effective alternatives or supplements to the manual recips.

Thanks everyone! Please feel free to pm me if you might be able to help. :)

PS - Since I can't find the "search" function on WebmasterWorld, is Co-op a bad idea?

This is considered link farming and would be waste of your time, you'll end up getting banned one way or an other. Google could see getting over 4,000 links to your web site in such a short time as spam. If I WERE going to use it I would only go after related web sites. You always have to look for the long run if you want to make it in the search engines and stay there.

Really if you want to be in this for the long run you should stay away from any black hat SEO, search engines are getting more advanced all the time and they may just catch up with you, if you decide to use black hat SEO and ban you. What you need to decide is are you in this for the short term or the long run?

It's a lot better to pay to advertise on a web site that will send your web site traffic and is considered as an authority Site in it's topic.

Is it a throwaway domain or one you want to brand and build?
