Also kindly suggest the best way to manage links for multiple clients.
How big are the campaigns you planning?
If its less than 300 links than linksmanager might be the best... however it is costly
If its 300 to 2000 links than opt for Arelis.
I would also suggest SEO elite for finding partners and checking that the websites link back. Its expensive but its paid for itself in time the first week I used it.

...our problem is that we don't run php on our servers, and have no intention of doing so....that could be a problem. i would have recommended linkautomate but it is php. there are so many scripts around to manage linking, but they all vary in their offerings. some are for hiearchical directories of links, others relational, some nested categories others not, some support reciprocal linking, some support multiple sites, some support online editing of link pages, some require ftp, some run off your site server, and for all some don't. do a search for "free *asp* link management scripts" (*subsitite *cgi* or *cfm* or whatever scripting language you are using, and drop the asterisks) and that might help take you to some place that will list a dozen or more available scipts for you, and descriptions of each.
The best solution is to write your own. if I was going to do it, I'd have it done in php.
Thanks for the suggestions, i have used the trial version of arelis before and found it to be quite helpful for collecting competitors links.
I do not want to opt for links manager and zeus as they both need ftp acccess.
I have not seen the functioning of arelis for creating link page templates, kindly advice how it works, as i have no idea.
also how does it check reciprocal linking? Kindly advice.

Arelis also needs ftp access. Basically you create a template of your link page in an html editor and place the text ##Links## where you want the links to go. In about three clicks of a button in Arelis you can create your entire directory using this template. You will than need ftp software to load the pages onto your site. Its really easy. I use Smart FTP.
For finding potential link partners Arelis works great with it "find sites that link to my competitors" function. However, it does find alot of bad apples also. I say on average about half the sites that it mines are sites that do not trade links or they dont have desirable PR. It all depends on the site that you use.
I personally like to use Seo Elite for finding link partners. What I do is "Analyze Backlinks" for a certain site. It uses the same technology as arelis but also includes the page rank of the links page. I than sort all the backlinks based on PR. Right away it cuts the work load of having to screen sites by 1/3. I than visit all the links pages of all the sites that have PR 3 or better and collect email addresses or add url urls. You can export the list in a spreadsheet from SEO Elite and import into arelis.
About checking backlinks....
Ok... so all the software on the market that I know of except linksmanager checks the page that you link is suppose to be on and returns a yes or no. Linksmanager does spider the site orginally to find your link but it only will search up to 250 pages. I havent used it in awhile so I dont know if it has changed.
I feel like a salesman for SEO elite but Im totally happy with it. With SEO Elite you can tell it an url on your site (one of your links pages).... and it will crawl all the outbound links on that page for your url. It even searches for pages like links1.html and resources.html first so it is supper efficient. If the sites are smaller than 500 pages I say on average it can find 20 reciprocal links in about 10 minutes. It reports the pr of the page your link resides on, the anchor text, how many outbounds etc. Once I find the url my link resides on I put it in Arelis for keeping. I use Arelis to flag any sites that have moved or deleted my link. I use Seo elite to crawl those sites to find my link... if it cant find it I email them asking them what they did with my link.
Hope this helps...

But I personaly would sujest LinkAssistant.
It has two disadvantages: they are quite new (but they are growing really fast and in a couple of months LinkAssistant will surely be the best software for managing reciprocal links!) and it requires java (which is absolutely free and easy-to-install, btw)
But there are so many advantages!
1) >>>> Arelis... Basically you create a template of your link page in an html editor and place the text ##Links## where you want the links to go. In about three clicks of a button in Arelis you can create your entire directory using this template. <<<<<
Ha-ha! have you ever tried to create good-loking pages with arelis? that's impossible!
LinkAssistant has almost the same wizard-features, but it has an editor where you can tune-up whatever you want befor? generating pages... E.g. you want all your links (i.e. <a>-tags) had some css-properties (i.e. <a href="bla-bla-bla" class="myclass">). In arelis you have to generate pages and do this work manually for all the links - just imagine you have 3000 links - this is AWFUL! In LinkAssistant you just type "<a href="<[PARTNER_DOMAIN/]>" class="myclass"><[PARTNER_NAME/]></a>" ONCE - and all your links will have this class attribute.
I.e. they allow smth like thier own pseudo-language.
Someone may think this to be really hard, but once you understand it - you'll see it really worth!
2) >>>>> For finding potential link partners Arelis works great with it "find sites that link to my competitors" function. However, it does find alot of bad apples also. The same thing with LinkAssistant. BUT! It can show your Google PR of your potential link partners easily - so you can remove those with poor PR in 3 clicks.
3) >>>>> About checking backlinks....

LinkAssistant can do it also easily.
4) Even more - they have some kind of e-mail client inside... And the main thing is that you can send mail not one-by-one, but many PERSONALIZED e-mails at once. So this can not be considered spam. And as always - you may easily preview and correct any letter.
5) Then... It works on Linux OS! So I can use it at home (you guessed it - I do not have Windows at home ;)))))
6) Year - it has some quirks - but as I said before the seem to be developing quite rapidly. So - arelis is surely not the only player on this market ;)
