I have embarked on an aggressive link campaign.

In an ideal world, I would love everyone one of my ibl's to contain the desired anchor text, however many do not, and come back as either option 1 or 2 listed below.

I am curious to find out if any of the following methods are weighted, and if anyone can guess what they think their weighting are, if any.

Assumption: Domain = www.blue-widgets.com
Desired keyword: blue widgets

1.Site ignores anchor text request, and gives a plain link to [bluewidets.com...]

2. Site hosts an image with alt="blue widgets" href=http://www.bluewidets.com

Is their any merit/weighting to option 1/2?

Assuming their is a mix of 1/2 and you also get your desired kw in anchortext, this should compliment the mix.

If option 1/2 has merit, then a keyword rich domain will pay off?

Yes, correct.
In #1, the URL is the anchor text.
In #2, since graphics do not have anchor text, the alt tag serves substantially the same purpose.

In an ideal world, all the links we get would have our desired anchor text (not necessarily the same anchors on all links). However, natural links are sometimes composed of just the URL. So, even though you don't get your ideal world of having your desired anchor associated with every link, with the intermix if just URL as anchors you will at least appear to have a natural distribution of semantically varying links.

Personally, since I can SEO, I prefer unique and brandable domain names rather than www.keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.com....since I am so totally without class, I need all the help I can get.

Thank you for the reply. I am right on the money :)

I would like to think that we can all SEO. If you investigate all methods for obtaining IBL's you will see that a couple of the methods only allow you to post a URL, this keyword rich URl's are ideal due to option 1.

Also, if there is an industry that is worth billions, and you have the domain keyword-keyword.com, it can help!

I also would not go for www.keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.com.
