Message Too Old, No Replies

Should my inbound links be UK specific?

Stay local?

Hi all

I run four P2P UK based sites, ie, the membership is all UK based and the URL's are all co.uk's.

Is the effectiveness of inbound links from, say, US based .com's lessened in any way as those links are not coming from sites operating in the same domestic market as my sites. I'm hoping you're gonna tell me that it doesn't make any difference!

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

My experience is out of area links in the same theme are OK -- I do a lot of promo for local businesses here where the competition is terrific. None of them want to link to anyone else locally so we link from the same type of businesses in Eastern Canada, and the US.

So long as the topics are semantically similar and the sites are decent you should be fine regardless of the physical location of the site/business.

*.. lessened in any way..*

Not at the moment, but to "future-proof" a bit, it might be wise to favour Uk links.

Without taking it to extremes, of course ;-)
