is it good to register more domains and forward them to the main domain? can it hurt the ranking?

I don't think it can hurt the domain, but it might end up being redundant and therefore a waste of money.

Google can easily spot this on a webmap. A limited number of domains for typos and misspellings is OK. I can't say where the number becomes large enough that they feel you're trying to manipulate them, but, if you value your domain, I suggest you don't push it.
