How many same-site links are considered "too many" by SE's

Hello-

Say site X has 1 link from the homepage of site Z, and 100 links from secondary pages on site Z. Both sites have similar PR for their homepage and secondary pages.

Each of the 100 links will be on its own unique page, no 2 links will fall on the same page, and content will be relevant from site Z to site X across all pages.

Does site X stand to benefit in any way?

I've been wondering this myself, since I plan on submitting a bunch of articles to a free content site which links back to my site. No point in submitting too many if it'll eventually hurt me.

Sure site X benefits from being linked to. The first few links help the most, and there's probably a diminishing return as the number climbs.
