Hi, I added a free php link script to my website today. And as I was testing it out, adding a URL, not only did the link that I was posting show up, but also a link from Google. How did it get there? I didn't know Google added it's own link to any "Add a link" directory it wants.

This is wierd. Here's what was in my ADMIN. I added spaces so it wouldn't show up as a URL on the forum and changed it to mysite.com instead of my real url.

Name: a
Email: aa@a.com
Title: Google
URL: http:// www.google.com
Reciprocal URL: http:// www.google.com/search?q=http%3A%2F%2F www.mysite.com%2F
Description: Google search engine

This is even wierder... it has suddenly disappeared. No, I'm not losing it, am I? Spending too much time at the computer?

Why assume it was Google? If you had traced it to their IP address, that would be another matter.

Okay, Let's not assume it was Google then. May I also assume that no one has heard of this before.

At the time, I didn't feel a need to trace an IP. I was actually happy that it was submitted, thinking it was the Googlebot spidering the page.

I also recieved an email confirming the link was submitted. But the link mysteriously disappeared several hours after it appeared.

I could send an email to aa@a.com but I also assume it will bounce.

I think you'll find it is something dodgy[1] in the 'free link script'
