Hi, I've come across this term "Sitewide links" in regards to link exchange.
What does it actually mean?

Links on pages throughout the site, usually on every page and often in the footer.

AFAIK it is simply links that are on all pages in a website. The value of external links of this kind should not be exaggerated. They may send you quite a few more visitors than one single link, but do not expect them to add significantly more to your PageRank than one link would do.
