Blogs that are very vulnerable to blog spam have links to what could be considered some of the worst neighborhoods in existence. So why do they seemingly go unpunished? Often blogs that are vulnerable will have tens, hundreds or even thousands of pages full of absurdly off topi links to sites that have been banned or penalized ages ago, yet they keep their pagerank and perhaps their rankings to boot.
Could it be possible that just as crawlers and scrapers can identify blogs in order to add them to the list of spam comments to make, that search engines can identify them and give them a sort of leniency in order to not have an otherwise good blog wiped out because a handful (or more) of the dusty ole' archive pages link to "best online pr0n casino holdem blue pills"?

MB, not precisely sure where to post this, so sorry if it's not meant for your forum. Thought it interesting concerning the 'neighborhoods' theories though.
