Hi guys,

I'm thinking of buying a link on a big portal, wich would improve my site's ranking.

The portal has many many pages, what would improve the quantity of backlinks for my site.

The link costs $1200 for 3 months.

Is it worth to take the risk?

If you think you'll get enough traffic from the site to justify the $1200 spend. If so, take the backlink benefit as a bonus. Otherwise, I believe you can get links a bunch cheaper than that.

Is it from one page or sitewide (on every page)?

That's pretty pricey, but there's always a way to make a guestimate on the links' value, and it's worth doing:

Value of PR Lift
Guess how much this will help your own PR, guess how much you will rise in the SERP's as a result, calculate how much incremental $ you will make. If you don't know these things, then guessing and seeing how it turns out is a fabulous exercise.

Value of Organic Traffic
Guess how much traffic you will get from the links themselves.

Add Up the Values and Decide
The sum of these two sets of values should help you decide whether or not to buy the link. If you break even or better, chances are it's worth it, because you'll find ways to tweak in future that will improve performance.

Do not discount the value to your business if guesstimating and post-evluating. It will make your future guesses increasingly more accurate, and your investments more savvy. ;-)

I haven't payed over 150 dollars for one single link and i've bought a pr8 related to my site from an authority site. That should clear things up. like what caveman said. I'm doin the same thing now. give ya the results in three months.
