Thousands of incoming links mostly from a few dozen domains, but mostly low PR.
We're considering purchasing PR6 and PR5 links for a six month advertising campaign, 21 PR6 links, homepage and inside pages, usually 4-10 inside pages, plus 5 PR5 links...
There are about 18 outgoing links on each page...
This would cost us around $800 for a six month campaign.
Has anyone done something similar to this? Did it make a difference? Does the pricing seem fair?

Alwayts remember it can be a risky business buying text links as the pr can go down from 6 to 0 in a very short time, less than 6 months.
Best bet is to pay monthly for the links and not upfront, this way you can pull out if the pr changes.
Try to speak to the person who is selling the links to get a feel about them, eg: how long has the site been going and who are their other clients are etc.
Be very careful and do some work before you shell out your hard earned cash, unless it is yahoo or google of course who are selling the links :)

The main point, you want pagerank for your $'s. See who else they link to and if the links are counted.
Many of these link traders make no guarantees, you buy the links as in. It can be risky business.
I obtained 4 PR 3 1 way lnks yesterday and a 1 way pr6 link with my main anchor text in.
You just have to be prepared to work damn hard.
I spend 2 days per week from my business getting links in, yes we have bought some links in the past and some have paid off, some have not.
As i mentioned earlier though, if you are buying links pay monthly and not a full amount.
Just remember: If you cannot contact the other person selling the links - stay well away.
