Hello,
I'd like to add a links page to my site that automatically generates links to the top 10 - 100 (haven't deciding how many) referring sites. Naturally I want whatever I use to stay ahead of the spammers/porn sites and not add them.

Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
sharon

This is for a small site. I'm more interested in creating a community with my links page of other related sites than the tricking of search engines. (I feel so old fashioned -- hee hee)

don't know if that makes any difference in the type of script or not.

thanks again.

Seriously, don't do it. It just encourages them, and whatever filters you put in place they will just attempt to get round.

Referrer spam has moved out of the domain of porn and viagra, and into the realms of more general sites. The sites I'm seeing spamming me have very little in common, and they're not all commercial either.

Some sites will automatically check referring pages for the link to determine whether it's real. But this method doesn't account for links that can only be seen by logged-in members, so it's not perfect.

Your best bet is to view any automatically-generated list, apply any filters you can think of, and then add the links manually. It's the only way you're going to stay ahead.

Do you something -- a script or software -- to do what you're describing (except for manually check them:).

I've been looking at sites for hours and I think i'm getting a bit bleary eyed trying to find something.
