Then you slap up your bait and tackle affiliate banners and links, and throw in as many AdSense modules as the layout can stand. hehehe
Now you're thinking, "Shoot. I have a good site, but nobody can find me because the only links pointing into it are the Run of Sites from my own network, a few directory links, and some paid links."
Then a voice in your head says:
Sorry Charlie, you're never going to rule the world of fishing with that motley group of links (at least, not on Google).
So after you find your meds to stop the voices, you set up a resource on your site for the keyword phrase, "Fishing Gear "$State"
and populate it with a sample listing (unlinked) of fishing shops from every state, province, village or whatever.
Now when people do a search for Fishing Gear Ontario, your website pops to the top of the list on Google (most of these local type searches are so easy it's child's play), and you're getting relevant traffic to your website for a "money term" for fishing gear in Ontario (and New York, Ohio, New Orleans, Tucson, etc).
Here is where it gets good
At this point, because you're ranking for a money term that fishing gear websites covet, you will begin attracting decent reciprocal link exchange requests.
IF you listed links to websites (set to spawn a new browser, i.e. _blank) THEN you would be making your website an even more valuable resource- and more apt to receive those one way inbounds because your allstar fishing website is seriously rocking. The trick is, for every live link you put in there, be sure to get a recip.
For every link you point to a fishing gear website, the more Google sees you as being in the Fishing Neighborhood, too. It's the old, you are who you link to principle.
Everybody refuses garbage recips- that is not a startling revelation. We don't really need another thread with people complaining how their inbox is stuffed with garbage recip requests. That would be too boring. ;)
If you can cultivate useful link requests, it's the beginning of a good strategy. I don't have anything against useful recips. They're something you have to cultivate. I use them for my advantage.
"Fishing Gear "$State" and populate it with a sample listing (unlinked)
(Sorry - very new ) -? is this a variable that can be filled with subwords. If this is so - can you expand on the idea. If im on the wrong track - i apologise on bended knees:)
I sort of get the concept but not the how to..
Thank you for the article. keep well.
