Hi,
I would look for the following:
1. How many link are leaving the page (this decreases the vote you will get).
2. Is the site using deceptive tactics and not passing pagerank, i.e using a redirect script.
3. Is the site blocked by google, i.e is not passing pagerank to sites it links to.

All jaffstar said plus a high deep link ratio.

Thanks for the replies, they help a lot. but then it leads to more doubts,i think its saver to buy links from link broker but then they are not showing the site URL to their customer--which means no way i can know what kind of site those inbound links are coming from. Anyone out there who try links trading before could advise on this? buy from broker or buy from individual? or from some i read in other thread, dont buy it at all!

It's like buying stocks and shares in a way, you have to find a broker you like and can trust from the pool of get rich quick scammers.

Some of the brokers will supply you with details about the site i.e Alexa Rank, or Dmoz/Yahoo Listing and or the total links, which can sometimes help in making an informed decision.
