Hi all,

I calculated and discussed with few link exchange companies about their link exchange

responce rate(positive responce to their link exchange request). The data is here

If I go to google and get 100 sites , out of this 100 sites only 60 give contacts

(email or forms, may not be webmaster, sometime customers care). Out of this 60 only 2

people reply in average.
So

Site Contact available 60%
Positive responce 3.3%

How to make it better , what are the factors involved?

1) Whom you are contacting?
2) When you are contacting?
3) How you are contacting?
4) Why you are contacting?
5) How to manage the links?

1) Whom you are contacting?
--------------------------------
Most of the people do searches like "intitle:add+url OR intitle:submit+your+site OR

intitle:add+your+site "keyphrase" and get the sites and try to contact , and once these

things are done go for normal keyphrase searches.

Use one effective software for link management , like we have our own powerfull stuff,

still making it more effective.

2) When you are contacting?
--------------------------------
From monday to thursday we contact and rest of the days just maintainence. As you

shouldn't send on fridays , saturday's and sunday's and all will go under monday work

and you may be rejected.

3) How you are contacting?
---------------------------------
Add them first or not? I donot add them as it takes a lot of time and management

becomes tougher and if someone is interested they will contact irrespective of whether we have added them or not as we have good sites.

Write a good mail , I write this way

Hi(if name is not available) else Dear firstname,

I am marketing personal for www.xyz.com .We are interested in link exchange and

we will give you two links ( all from different C Class IP to avoid reciprocal link

exchange theme).

1) www.abc.com/linkpage1.html (PR4)
2) www.def.com/linkpage1.html (PR6)

Please link to us using the following code
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Code and the description

I hope we can mutually benefit from the link exchange and can co-exist successfully in

this competitive market.

Regards
Name
(Email)
Phone number

4) Why you are contacting?
------------------------------
Some people claim for traffic but some are straight forward and says for better search engine placements.

5) How to manage the links?
-------------------------------
We use applications as it take care of every thing

What is your opinion , how do you go about it and what is the best and better way to ask for links?

Thanks

I use Zues and get about a 40% - 50% success rate. The email requests and the zues directories are so heavily modified they aren't recognizable. Getting links from another site is good, but that is the least of what I want -- I want to open a dialog with other webmasters on ways to work together and linking is one of the ways.

1) Who are you contacting?

I never use the search engines -- the ones at the top aren't going to link to you because until you have traffic and/or (perceived or real) PR.

the fastest way is to use other peoples link lists.

3) How are you contacting?

I aways add first, and mention their URL in the subject. I use Zues as a telephone solicitor -- the email offers to work together and gives a bulleted list of ways we can work together:

All email sent out are personallized.

1 I will feature them in my newsletter
2 they can submit an article to the newsletter
3 join each others affiliate programs
4 exchange links
5 Exchange links on my other sites
6 Link from the front page

Then I say something like "we are interested in opening a dialog with you" and are very open to suggestions etc. etc.

I have connected up with all kinds of other webmasters this way, get tons of content for the newsletter, new affiliates, extra revenue from their affiliate, design, hosting, and and promo contracts.

I place the link code underneath the signature as the very last thing in the email.
