In light of PayPal's recent crackdown I went thru some of my links in the health/medicines area. Of 5 sites I had linked not a single one of them displayed the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites certification, so I axed them all. Any future requests from a medicines site will be checked for the certification.

Am I alone in this? Am I being paranoid?

In my opinion only, you are being paranoid as heck. PayPal's crackdown only pertains to paypal clients who sell services or goods that are in their "bad" list. They have no reason to worry about people who have traded traffic links between any site.
